Swains

Swains Farm Shop and Garden Centre wanted to rejuvenate their existing website which had been languishing for some time with a website that matched their recent rebrand.

BN:Coded have delivered a functional HTML website designed around their business. We achieved the combination of delivering key information for easy user navigation with a bespoke look from one of our corporate partners. The site was designed to sit alongside the company’s existing and long established Facebook page and Twitter account.

BN:Coded host the website and provide exchange email accounts to allow them to communicate with their customers in a more professional way. We have advised and are currently investigating a blog integration so that they can deliver news quickly via CMS to their online visitors. This will reduce the dependence on changing the HTML and being so reliant on BN:Coded and our business partner. We also integrated Google Analytics so that they can monitor the site’s traffic themselves.

Update…

Since its conception, we have always wanted to create a blog for Swains to accompany its new look website. We felt a blog would work well to allow an element of content management for Swains. Enabling them to push the latest news and promotions from the Henfield-based Farm Shop and Garden Centre, without the need for a costly Content Managed Site (CMS). With a blog page all the latest news can be updated by themselves in an instant. It is beneficial for Search Engine Optimization (SEO) too. BN:Coded are obviously holding their hands to start with until they are confident with all aspects of their blog.

As with many blog designers, BN:Coded chose to build the site using the professional developers’ version of WordPress. This powerful blog engine was the obvious choice for Swains’ needs and more importantly allowed something to be created by BN:Coded within their budget. BN:Coded are not the only blog designers to use WordPress, it is estimated that 20% of the web’s sites are now using the WordPress engine.

Shop manager Nina Hills, was as profusive as ever with her praise, stating:

I think it looks really good.

Obviously we will be expecting a better quote when she discovers all the powerful tools she now has at her fingertips! Thanks to BN:Coded, Swains are now ready to start blogging about competitions, suppliers, special offers and seasonal products. We have given them some pointers as what to blog about, but ultimately this element of the site is now under their capable control.
